I woke up this morning to find my front tooth suddenly broken. It was Saturday, and I was at a loss for what to do, so I called Dr. Zhang at the last minute. He was already fully booked, but he understood how frustrating it was to lose a tooth. So, he patiently told me to come in after his last appointment. There, he first surgically removed the root of the tooth, then made a temporary denture. The whole process took Dr. Zhang two or three hours of overtime, but neither he nor the nurses at his clinic complained. On the contrary, I felt a little embarrassed, but Dr. Zhang casually said, “It’s okay, I understand how disheartening it must be.”
Actually, it was my first time seeing Dr. Zhang. Because of the time and location constraints, and it being a Saturday, many doctors, upon hearing my situation, knew it wasn’t a simple case and wouldn’t take me on.
At first, I was a little unsure when I looked online. After seeing Dr. Zhang for two hours, I really want to say something to the person who left the previous comment. If you are a “real” patient and want to share your unpleasant experience online, I have no problem with that. However, if you are a “fake” patient, or a fellow online troll, irresponsibly trying to smear a professional’s ethics through the internet, even resorting to such a serious term as “medical ethics,” then you are not a person of integrity either. Could it be that your lack of integrity has led to poor personal hygiene, resulting in rotten teeth? If you’re that capable, you’ll never have rotten teeth and won’t need to see a doctor. Being an online troll is easy; if you’re so capable, you can treat yourself by looking in the mirror, since all you can do is talk.
We are very fortunate that Dr. Zhang has been able to check, clean, fill, peel, and implant the teeth of our elderly family members. He explains everything in detail during each consultation, which puts the patient and family at ease. The nurses are also attentive and the service is reliable.
I was already getting impatient after just a few questions during the examination. Initially, the doctor said the extraction would be under $1,000, but the bill was $1,500 per tooth. After arguing with the doctor, he initially rebated the $1,000, but then suddenly said he forgot to reimburse the examination fee and wanted to add to the refund. The billing process was extremely opaque, with significant discrepancies between pre- and post-treatment charges. He was incredibly impatient with patients. He’s not an ethical dentist.
My girlfriend and I just moved to a new place and were planning to find a nearby dentist to get our teeth cleaned.
We only intended to get a cleaning, but as soon as my girlfriend sat down for the dentist’s examination, he said she had a filling and some teeth worn down from brushing. I was there at the time. Initially, he said: one molar had a filling and 2-3 teeth were worn down, and he recommended filling all of them. Later, I left the clinic to go to the restroom, and when I came back, it turned out she had filled 4 teeth! But he only said he filled the erosions! He initially said a total of 7 teeth would be filled, and I thought 7-4=3, meaning 3 more teeth needed filling. But when I booked her next appointment, it turned out she needed 7 more fillings! Apparently, he only filled the erosions, and she’ll fill the fillings at her next appointment! My girlfriend has always been very careful about her dental health, seeing the dentist every year and never needing fillings. And now he’s saying he needs 4+7 fillings! Isn’t that outrageous?! What’s worse, the dentist didn’t clearly explain the cost of fillings. Initially, they quoted $500-$750, but later, when I wasn’t there, they told my girlfriend it would be $500 per tooth. When the bill came, it was $580 per tooth! I argued with them, and although they eventually charged me $20 per tooth, I still think the dentist’s ethics are questionable!
As for me, I had my teeth removed many years ago. To prevent them from shifting, I had wires attached to the back of my upper and lower jaws. The glue erodes over time, and the wires have broken several times. During my cleaning, I asked if they could repair the broken wires. The dentist said it wasn’t convenient for him to handle, as it wasn’t his case, but suggested removing the wires. I agreed. During the procedure, they drilled the glue from one of my teeth for a long time. I didn’t think much of it, and after removing it, I didn’t feel any problems. Later, I felt a soreness in that tooth. I suspect he didn’t have his teeth straightened, as an online search revealed no certifications for him (so of course I agreed to the procedure without fully understanding the situation). He charged me $1,000, but when I contacted the dentist who did the procedure, they only charged $400!!
Conclusion: He is not a trustworthy dentist; he’ll do anything for money. Residents of Ho Man Tin/Mong Kok, please be aware! ??????
I don’t mean to smear anyone, I just don’t want others to go through what I did.
P.S. Before going to Tai Po, I checked out a dentist there (they don’t have names, you have to book months in advance; you can Google it to find them). After the checkup, the dentist said I didn’t need fillings.
