Also known as Nightguard. A mouthguard is a protective device worn inside the mouth to shield teeth and gums from injury.
It covers the teeth and gums, reducing damage to the lips, arches, and jaw. Commonly used in contact sports, it prevents dental trauma and lessens risks of jaw joint injuries or concussion. Dentists also prescribe mouthguards for conditions like teeth grinding (bruxism), temporomandibular disorders (TMD), sleep apnea, or during dental procedures. They may be store-bought or custom-made, and are also known as gumshields, nightguards, or bite splints
