Bone grafting surgery is a procedure that uses transplanted bone or synthetic material to repair and rebuild damaged or deficient bone.
It’s commonly performed when bones fail to heal properly after fractures, or to support dental implants and spinal fusion. The graft stimulates the body’s natural bone growth, helping restore strength and structure. Bone can be taken from the patient (autograft), a donor (allograft), or made from synthetic substances. The surgery may involve placing the graft into gaps or defects, allowing new bone cells to grow and integrate over time.
